Easy Maxi Dress

Wanna Learn how to make your own Maxi Dress?
Well you are in luck because this is super easy and it only
cost me about $8.50
But the best part is I actually made it for Free because
I won a gift card to hobby lobby from Bunco
and I totally used that to pay for my fabric
Booya!

What you will Need:
- 2 yards Jersey Knit Fabric
-Thread to match your jersey knit
-A sewing machine
-Pins
-Fabric scissors
-Rotary Cutter
-measuring tape

What I did:

the first thing you are going to want to do before anything is wash and dry your fabric
this is because Jersey knit shrinks
so this is will help you to keep your measurements for the bottom accurate at the end

****The tutorial I followed said to sew it, cut it and then wash the fabric,
but I would wash and dry the fabric before you sew so it doesn't move the stitching at all

1. You will want two yards  by 60 inches of Jersey knot fabric
Fold it in half "Hot Dog style" like the picture above so that it is 2 yards by 30 inches

2. Next I pinned the fabric on three of the sides leaving one of the short sides open
for the feet

3. Next I got out my sewing machine and thread to match
You are going to want to do a Zig zag stitch for this dress

4. Sew on the 3 sides that you pinned leaving the bottom open for the feet

5. Once all three sides are sewn I laid it flat on the ground and measured
marking the middle of the top of the dress
(The other short side 30 inch so at about 15 inches I marked that)

6. Taking my rotary cutter I cut a 8 inch straight slit at the 15 in mark
(This is what makes the V neck line)

7. Next I cut 8 inches on the each side from the top down 8 inches
like picture #7 above for the arm holes

8. Next I went back to my machine and double stitched over the parts of the
fabric that I cut for the V neck and arm holes
so that it all stays together and the stitching doesn't come undone
(Again the tutorial I followed didn't do this but I thought
it was pretty important so it stays together)

That is all the sewing you will need to do
You don't need to hem the arms or the bottom because Jersey doesn't fray and
it kind of curls under so it looks finished
Awesome huh!

9. Haha this is how long it was when I first tried it on
so next you will want to try it on to see how much you need to cut off the bottom
I am 5' 5" and I cut off 12 inches from the bottom
and it was perfect

Put a belt on  (belt from target) and some cute accessories and viola
you have yourself a cute easy Maxi dress
I probably finished this within 45 minutes to an hour
but I am kind of new at sewing so some of you
could probably make it within a 1/2 hour

Yes, Beginners you can do this too!
I am a beginner
All it is is cutting, measuring and sewing straight lines

It is so so comfy and light weight for the summer time
and it is great for my prego belly :)

What I love about this dress is you can wear it to church
or you can just wear it on a nice summer weekday

I wore it to church this Sunday and had at least 5 people ask me where
I bought my dress :)
I was so excited to tell them I made it

Then I wore it again on memorial day
It was perfect

I will definitely be making another one or maybe two
in some fun bright colors maybe :)

And I love Peg board
It is a new obsession of mine
I even have some left over in my garage from a past project
(check it out it is pretty sweet probably one of
my favorites me and hubby have done)
Maybe I will see if I can squeeze this project into
my boys room wall space
We shall see but I really hope so

the best blankets for babies on the market right now

Who doesn't love to upcycle and have adorable all at the same time
I am loving this idea
They even have the flaps to go over their little hands
so they don't scratch their little faces

Loving these month onesie decals
I did something similar to this for Maddux
They made for adorable month to month pictures and it was fun to
see just how much they were growing each month

Another fun project that I should get started on
These carseat covers are life savers
They keep the cold, wind and germs out of the carseat

We have one that I love but want to make another so we can
switch them up a little

DIY Cupcake Stand

Aren't you just dying over these
They are so CUTE!

Michelle@ A Little Tipsy

I had the opportunity to go to Breathing Space, my first blogging retreat,
a couple of weekends ago (post about retreat coming soon)
It was a lot of fun and I learned quite a bit from the classes
but most of all it was fun hanging out with my mom
and getting to know my other roommates
Kaysi, Michelle, Staci and Amanda
I LOVE all their blogs and learned a lot from our Friday night chat
Thanks ladies :)

The first night we had a fun Stepford Wives themed dinner
(so fun to dress up)
after the dinner, all my roommates and I headed off to
Harmons to get some snacks for the night and the next day
as we were walking around we came across these beauties
Don't you love the polka dots
We could not pass these up
so we had a fun plan to all make cupcake stands out of them
in different colors, in our own creative way
and blog about them linking to each others post
So make sure to click over to all the blogs and
check out our different takes on them
(links to all of them above)

Materials I used:
-Polka dot plates (large, small and bowl) from Harmons in RED
-dollar store candle sticks (I had in my craft stash)
-Spray paint
-E6000 glue
-Goo Gone

What I did:
1. First things first I wanted my candle sticks to show off a pop of color
and what better color than YELLOW
(I know I am a bit obsessed)
 so I spray painted them
easy peasy

2. Next you are going to need your E6000
if you don't have any of this GET SOME
it is awesome I use it for so many projects
you can get it at any craft store

3. I measured and found the middle of my large plate
spread some E6000 glue on the bottom of my first candle stick
and pressed it down on the plate

4. I then measured the middle of my smaller plate
spread E6000 on the top of the first candle stick and
put the smaller plate on top where I marked the middle
so that it is all centered

5. Then I repeated steps 3 and 4 to add the second candle stick and the
bowl on the top of the stand

see that goo that the glue left behind?

6. no worries next I just got out my trusty
Goo Gone (another must have supply)
and a cloth and got rid of all the extra glue that oozed out

Now it looks clean and there is no goo to be seen
:)

There it is all done and ready to be used
Isn't it pretty!
I can't wait to use it
I have thought of so really cool ways to use this
but was not able to get pictures of them yet
so I will just tell them to you and you can try them out yourselves

1. You can of course use them for cupcakes and little treats at the top
2. Fruit with Fruit dip in the bowl
3. Veggies with ranch dip in the bowl
4. or my hubbies favorite chips with salsa or guacamole in the bowl for dipping

Top: Kaysi, Leanne (mom), Me Bottom: Amanda, Staci, Michelle

And just to see how fun we are
Here we are together at the Stepford Wives Dinner
 so SASSY!
Thank you ladies for making my first blogging get together
such a good experience

Pedi by Hubby and 25 weeks

This Mothers day (well the night before after M went to bed)
 my oh so sweet hubby
gave this grumpy, chubby pregnant lady the most
incredible at home pedicure
I have never had anyone else give me a pedicure before
and can I just say having your hubby do it is the
sweetest most romantic thing ever
I don't even think he knows how much I enjoyed it
and appreciated it even after my millions of praises
and thank yous that didn't even begin to explain how
much I loved it!

First I took off my old yucky nail polish and trimmed my nails
then we borrowed my mother in laws foot bath and lavender foot soak
and hubby got me hot water and bubbles
and we watched some TV together while we let them soak
and I got all relaxed

Then I got to use my new homemade Lemon Foot scrub
that I got from one my cute roommates at Breathing Space Michelle
Thank you Michelle I love it and it smells so FRESH!

Hubby scrubbing my feet
then he rinsed them again in the warm water

And dried them

Then it was time for my favorite part
The lotion and foot massage
Hubby gives the best foot massages and
I am really spoiled cuz he rubs my feet just about every night
I know I know he is a keeper!
But this time it was extra special :)
and after my feet felt amazing

Last step painting my toes
He did such a good job
and it was so nice to not have to try to
get past my big pregnant belly to reach my toes to paint them
I think I will be recruiting him to paint my toes the rest of the pregnancy ;)

I even got to use my toe separators :)
we used this really pretty coral color I got from
another roommate from the retreat Amanda!

Tada!!!
My freshly pedi feet and painted toes

My feet were sooooo soft
They have never been that soft before
I am a barefoot or flip flop kinda gal so lets just say these
rough feet needed a little pampering

Like I said there is nothing like getting a pedi from your lover
Thank you hun!
Ready to do one for me every week? ;)

It has been a while since I have posted a belly pic so here you go
I am 25 1/2 weeks now
I can't believe I only have 101 days to go!
He has been one active baby
And I love being able to feel him moving all over
I love him so much!

And a few stats
I will hopefully be going to the doctor
again the beginning of June
and hopefully will be able to see our little guy again!!!
and yes that is my sweet little Maddux's foot in the picture
He was rollin around on the ground happy as can be
but insisted on being by mommy.
Oh how I love that little man

Now ladies go and ask your hubbys for a little at home pedi
You will not regret it
We like to be pampered and they like to pamper us and make us
feel special
We all need it especially when we are pregnant :)
